Overview
Sundarban Tour Package 2024
Sundarbans National Park is a tiger-protected area and biosphere reserve area located in the Sundarbans delta region of the Ganges River in the southern part of the state of West Bengal, India. The area is surrounded by dense forests of mangroves and is the largest protected area of the Royal Bengal Tiger.
Recent studies have shown that the number of tigers is 103 in this national park. Many species of birds, reptiles, and invertebrates are also found here. Along with these, saltwater crocodiles are also found here.
The present Sundarbans National Park was declared the core area of the original Sundarbans Tiger Reserve in 1973 and a wildlife sanctuary in 1977. On 4 May 1984, it was confirmed a national park. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated in 1987, and it has been selected as a Ramsar site since 2019. It is measured as a World Association of Biosphere Reserve (Man and Biosphere Reserve) from 2001.
Experiences:
Sundarban
Wildlife Cruise Safari
The beauty of the Sundarban National Park can only be experienced by embarking on a boat safari. One has to explore the park by cruising from island to island as the entire area is submerged. The duration of the boat cruises varies from 2 hours to 11 hours depending on the cruise you book.
Guests are escorted from the resort to the boat docks (Waxpol Ghat) at Dayapur Island. Onboard, our boatmen and the forest guide navigate their way through the creeks and rivers and stop at designated watchtowers, which offer the best opportunity to catch a glimpse of the local flora, fauna, avifauna, and reptiles.
Nature Walks
We, at Sunderban Tiger Camp, conduct nature walks in the early mornings and late evenings. Guests visit the embankments, mangrove plantations, farms, villages, and places outside the Sundarbans National Park that are popular birdwatching spots and allow visitors to observe the daily lives and culture of the locals.
