Snow Leopard Trek 2024

Hemis National Park is one of the major attractions of Ladakh which draws many adventurers and wildlife enthusiasts from all over the world. It is spread over an elevation of 4100 meters and covers the entire Rumbak Valley. The national park is home to animals of various species including snow leopards and Himalayan birds. 

The Snow Leopard Trek, one of the popular winter treks in the Ladakh region, is located in an area where human hospitality and rugged mountains welcome you. 

Many rare and endangered animal species are found in this cold desert such as the elusive Snow Leopards, Tibetan wolves, Blue Sheep, Horned Sheep, Eurasian Brown Bears, Ibex, Tibetan Antelope, Shapo, Marmot, and many more. 

It is inhabited by many species of birds such as the Golden Eagle, various species of vultures, Oriole, Snow Cock, Golden Eagle, Horned Lark, Red Build Chuff, etc., and migratory birds.

While going on the Snow Leopard trek in Ladakh, there is a surprise at every turn. The trek allows one to become familiar with the folklore of the Rumbak Valley. 

It thus brings out the culture of an indigenous region by blowing the breath of the high-altitude desert and the gust of cold air.


Best Time To See Snow Leopard in Ladakh

The best Time to See Snow Leopard in Ladakh is during the months starting from November till March.

The winter in Ladakh is indifferent in nature. There is a possibility of sunny days from January to March but there will be a chill in the air. January is the coldest month in Ladakh. Days begin to heat up by March and the average temperature is 7 degrees Celsius. 

Early mornings, evenings, and nights are extremely cold. Day temperatures in Leh, and on the trek, will be between -25 ? C to + 6 ? C. Nighttime temperatures can fall from -10 ? C to -25 ? C. Usually there is snow around from January to March. Please read the equipment section thoroughly. January trips will be colder than March trips.


Where is The Snow Leopard Located

Snow Leopard Trek is located in the eastern part of Ladakh in the Hemis National Park with an average elevation of around 3000 meters. It covers an area of 600 square meters in the valleys of Markha and Rumbak. It is a high-altitude protected area, built-in 1981 to conserve and preserve its unique flora and fauna.

Arrive Kushok Bakula airport Leh - 3500m above sea level. Full Day at rest for acclimatization.

Drive Toward Ulley Village
Ulley Village

Drive toward Ulley Village. We stop by some of the major attractions on this route like the famous Confluence of Zanskar & Indus and Basgo Fort.. Overnight Homestay.

Snow Leopard Singhsing day in Ulley

Full Day snow leopard spotting walks/treks into different valleys with inputs and guidance from Spotter(s) who scan the whole valley from morning till evening.

through special binoculars for probable presence of the wild cat. You require a lot of patience to spot a snow leopard as it takes a lot of waiting to sight one.

(We cannot guaranteed the sight of snowleopard in this 3-4 Day).

Cancellation Policy

All notice of cancellation must be sent to our New Delhi office via email. Verbal cancellations will not be entertained. There is also no refund for services not utilized. There will be a cancellation fee as under:

  • Notice less than 45 days: 35% cost will be deducted
  • Notice less than 30 days: 50% cost will be deducted
  • Notice less than 15 days: No Refund

  • The digital copy of the Indemnity form duly filled, signed and emailed to the company along with the booking amount. 
  • It will be deemed that the booking & payment policy is accepted by the clients while making the bookings with the first deposit amount. 
  • If the client is forced to cancel the booking prior to departure, the cancellation policy will be followed.
  • In case of any delay beyond our control, the client will have to bear extra cost for the extra days as per the option chosen on per day basis.
  • Please  note  and  be  well  informed  that  there  will  be  no  refund  of  money  after the package commences and if one cannot complete activity or gets sick enroute. 
  • The cost is for the entire package and there would be no refunds in case any part of the package is not availed.

  1. It is in the nature of a holiday of this kind to be flexible. The day-to-day agenda and ultimate goal of the tour is taken as an aim and not as a contractual obligation. We shall not be responsible for the delays or alterations in the program or expenses incurred due to conflict, international or internal flight delay or cancellations, strikes, sickness, weather, war, vehicle problems, political closures and disputes.
  2. The  booking  is  accepted  on  the  understanding  that  you  realize  the  potential  risks  and hazards that can be involved in holidays of this kind. The organisor along with our leaders/guides and anyone else working in association with us cannot be held responsible for any death, accident or mishap that may occur in connection with any part of, or services connected with the holiday. 
  3. Before the guests come on a holiday, they must be covered by insurance, which has to include the cost of helicopter rescue, evacuation and cost of repatriation if they become too ill to continue. It is recommended that the travel insurance should cover adventure activities undertaken. We can help you incase required
  4. The Company would not be liable to pay any kind of compensation arising because of any mishap, sickness, accident etc.
