Overview

About Rishikesh Adventure Tour Package

Rishikesh is a city in India's northern state of Uttarakhand, in the Himalayan foothills beside the Ganges River, and known as an adventure hub. Rishikesh came into prominence in the early 1990’s when white water rafting picked up as a great adventure experience. Slowly the industry started getting organized and now one can find it to be a complete hub offering many adventure activities such as cycling, hiking, Treks, rafting, Bungy, ziplines, giant swings, camping, and kayaking. River Ganga is considered holy, and the city is renowned as a center for studying yoga and meditation. Temples and ashrams (centers for spiritual studies) line the eastern bank around Swarg Ashram, a traffic-free, alcohol-free and vegetarian enclave upstream from Rishikesh town. The Holy Maa Ganga Aarti performed at dusk at the Triveni Ghat is very popular with visitors.

Rishikesh has been a part of the legendary 'Kedarkhand' (the present-day Garhwal). Legends state that Lord Rama did penance here for killing Ravana, the demon king of Lanka; and Lakshmana, his younger brother, crossed the river Ganges, at a point, where the present 'Lakshman Jhula' bridge stands today, using a jute rope bridge. The jute-rope bridge was replaced by an iron-rope suspension bridge in 1889, and after it was washed away in the 1924 floods, it was replaced by a stronger present bridge.

Best Time to Visit Rishikesh

September to April will be the ideal season for Rishikesh. Though, tourists and pilgrims visit Rishikesh/Haridwar around the year. Because Rishikesh is the gateway of Chardham hence May to September is the peak season for Chardham yatra, which is best avoided. However, Autumn to spring is the best months to visit Rishikesh.

Rishikesh is a picturesque destination affording enchanting views throughout the year. The climate here is a continental type but its location in the foothills gives it pleasant weather throughout the year.

May & June is quite hot at Rishikesh temperature touching + 35 °C. The best time to visit Rishikesh for River Rafting is from late September - November and then from February - April. July - August should be best avoided due to the festival in Rishikesh called Savan where thousands of people flock to Rishikesh. Major roads are blocked and hotels are crowded. It is better to avoid traveling to Rishikesh during that time.
