Overview

Norway Cruise Package
On our 10-night Wonders of the Fjords journey, discover the locations our luxurious expedition ship was meant to explore as you sail through the land of the midnight sun through breathtaking landscape. We set off from Tromso, 250 miles above the Arctic Circle, stopping at the hospitable Lofoten Islands before entering fjords that range in size from Norway's longest,

Sognefjord, to possibly the most stunning, Geirangerfjord, from one of the narrowest that a ship can pass, Trollfjorden. Before turning south, you'll wind your way through massive glaciers, over narrow channels, through emerald-green waters,

past stunning waterfalls, and around craggy headlands. You'll have been to far-off places and seen some of Norway's wildest nature in boutique fashion by the time we get to Amsterdam.

Trollfjorden is unbelievable - a 100 m-wide entrance to a narrow fjord with near-vertical mountainous sides up to 1,100 m high.? There is no other way in save by boat or a perilous walk through Austvgya, on the border of the Lofoten Islands. Glomfjord

Glomfjord is a village in the municipality of Mel?y in Nordland county, Norway. The 1.14-square-kilometer village has a population of 1,077 and a population density of 945 inhabitants per square kilometer. Although located north of the Arctic Circle and not far from Norway's second largest glacier Svartisen, the climate is well suited for living due to the Gulf Stream, albeit rather wet. The temperature is seldom below - 10 ?C (14 ?F) during wintertime. During summer time the sun does not set. The midnight sun also makes the plants grow faster.

Day

4

Bronnoysund

A pretty town on a narrow peninsula amid a world of islands halfway up the Norwegian coast. Nearby, Torghatten, a granite dome of a mountain on the isle of Target, is famed for the hole through the middle, which you can walk right through. Boat trips head to the Vega Archipelago UNESCO site, with shallow waters, fishing docks, and nesting spots for down-rich eider ducks. The Norwegian Aquaculture Centre gives guests a taste of salmon farming with aquariums, underwater cameras - and a restaurant.

Day

5

Vega Archipelago

In a 5,400-strong archipelago outside Trondheim, a natural region of moors, marshes, and fishing settlements, Froya is one of two major islands. The largest salmon factory in the nation is located in Froya and its neighbour, Hitra, also features the highest lighthouse in northern Europe (45 m). The islands have a rich history, including artefacts from the Stone and iron ages as well as remnants of German occupation during World War II. They are connected to the mainland and one another via a tunnel. You may trek to the top of Brannhaugen, 310 metres above sea level, or take a boat ride to look for sea eagles.

Day

6

Nordfjordeid

The Eidsfjorden settlement of Nordfjordeid is nestled between Jostedalsbreen glacier, the largest in mainland Europe, and serves as a stopping-off point for overland journeys to Geiranger on the stunning, UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord. The largest known Viking ship in the nation, the Myklebust, is replicated by skilled craftsmen in Nordfjordeid, and there are other Viking burial mounds nearby. The Loen Skylift gondola rises 1,011 m nearby, at the edge of Innvikfjorden, providing the most breathtaking views.

Day

7

Skjolden

Our cruise takes us along Sognefjord, at 204 km not only the longest but the deepest in Norway, before entering Lustrafjord. From the village of Skjolden, the gateway to the national parks, hike to the viewpoint for a breathtaking panorama, have a quiet moment in Urnes Stave Church, Norway?s oldest, or cycle along the narrow, fjord-hugging Romantic Road, past waterfalls and ancient buildings. You?ll be mesmerized as you sail in.

Day

8

Ulvik

We reach one of Norway?s most dramatic spots by sailing the mighty Hardangerfjord (at 179 km, Norway?s second longest) with its impressive waterfalls and then through to the end of Ulvikafjorden. The village of Ulvik, surrounded by mountains, has breathtaking views across glistening waters in which the peaks are reflected. This is the place for lofty hikes, kayaking and other water activities. In May, the slopes are filled with the blossom of thousands of fruit trees.

Day

9

Mandal

The southernmost town in Norway has a curving 1 km, grassy dune-backed beach., Sea Sand, one of seven beaches in Furulunden forest park, a place to walk, jog, cycle, swim and picnic. Sea Sand is only one of the calm, beautiful hideaways surrounding this charming town of white-painted buildings at the mouth of the river Mandalselva. The snaking waterway is filled with sailboats while gentle hills rise as a backdrop. Mandal also has the biggest wooden church in Norway, seating 1,800 people.

Day

10

Helgoland
Helgoland

As we cruise across the North Sea, it would be simple to overlook this captivating German island, which is just 2 km long and 56 m above sea level. The primarily grassy plateau, which is flanked by rough red sandstone cliffs, is a small archipelago 50 km away from the River Elbe and used as a naval station during World War II. Visitors come to this vacation destination for windy walks and birding. Visit the Festung Helgoland battle tunnels to learn how the town of Helgoland was rebuilt after being destroyed during the war.

Day

11

Amsterdam
