Overview

Northern Lights

Travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path destinations will love Northern Norway and be drawn to this combo of cruise & land combo through Norway's Arctic Circle. With overnight stays in memorable and incredible spots, this trip is an ideal getaway for a week with a mix of gorgeous landscapes and small city cultures.

This itinerary focuses on Norway’s wild Northern coast, which offers quite a deal of history and culture, along with outdoor activity opportunities. We arrive in the city of Oslo with free time to explore museums, modern architecture, and Nordic cuisine. And then we fly to Tromsø, nicknamed 'Paris of the North, traverses the Norwegian Arctic, and experience a number of natural and cultural sites, which happens to be Northern Norway's largest city also.

From here, we board a luxury cruise ship for 2 nights & 3 days and we sail towards the ends of the Earth, off a coast that is as far north as it is possible to get to on the continent of Europe. Each day ends with another opportunity to view the Northern Lights in this beautiful and remote part of the world. Meet the indigenous Sami people and encounter a hotel made of snow along the Norway/Finnish border.

Norway is the perfect destination for travelers keen on seeing the Northern Lights. Take part in a wide range of activities, take photos and explore the villages on foot one that shouldn't be missed is the Northern Lights chase where you'll end the night with a campfire and hot chocolate.

*Northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

What Is the Best Month to Go to Norway?

The best time to visit Norway is in spring which starts from April last week and till June last which is also the ideal time to witness the midnight sun. Then the next best time to travel to Norway is from September mid to November mid, as it’s the beginning of the Northern lights appearing which is an amazing spectacle.

The prime time when Norway is visited is usually the summertime from mid-June to August for European and American tourists. Another window that can be recommended is the fag end of winter which is from March mid to April mid when one can enjoy the winter activities and also the Northern Lights spectacle.

Cruising to North Cape

(The northernmost point in Europe 71°N)
Ports: Hammerfest - Havøysund - Honningsvåg - Kjøllefjord - Mehamn CHOOSE YOUR EXPERIENCE FOR TODAY

VISIT THE NORTH CAPE PLATEAU (OPTIONAL SUPPLEMENTS)
As far north as you can get - by land and sea. For many, a visit to the North Cape is a high point and a goal for voyages along the Norwegian coast. Up here in the polar landscape, nature is at its harshest and most desolate, but between bare plains and rugged cliffs, people cling on and reap nature's bounty. Our recommended excursion for today is
North Cape plateau

Disembarkation port: Honningsvåg
Embarkation port: Honningsvåg
Time: 11:30-14:30
Season: All year round
Wear comfortable shoes and warm, windproof clothing.

People come here from all over the world to experience being so far north. The iconic globe has become the symbol of the North Cape and is also a popular photo stop. On the North Cape is also the North Cape Hall, partly built into the mountain cliff, where you will find a restaurant with endless views, a souvenir shop in the mountain wall, a chapel, and a Thai museum. A 180-degree wide-screen film screening of the North Cape throughout the four seasons is a must-see.

The excursion to the North Cape also takes you through a wide, barren landscape with rocks and hardy, low-growing vegetation. In the summer, you can see reindeer herds on the plateau. In winter, the snow plows' battles against the snow can be an equally impressive sight. At the ends of the earth. The North Cape plateau rises a steep 307 metres straight up from the Arctic Ocean. You are standing on the European continent’s most northerly point, looking out across a horizon so long that you can see the Earth's curve.

Keep a lookout, as the northern lights can be experienced anytime from late evening onwards.
