Overview

About Leh Ladakh Tour Package

Ladakh is a land abounding in awesome physical features set in an enormous and spectacular environment. Bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges the Karakoram in the north and the Great Himalaya in the south it is traversed by two other parallel chains the Ladakh Range and the Zanskar Range. Ladakh lies at altitudes ranging from about 9,000 ft (2,750 m) at Kargil to 25,170 ft (7,672m) at Saser Kangri in the Karakoram Range.

Surprisingly though the thin air makes the heat of the sun even more intense than at lower altitudes. It is said that only in Ladakh can a man sitting in the sun with his feet in the shade suffer from sunstroke and frostbite at the same time.

Leh the capital of Ladakh is situated at a height of 3505 meters and is towards the eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The region is watered by the Zanskar River which flows into the Indus River just below. Leh is a beautiful destination with so many attractions and is the center of Tibetan-Buddhist culture for ages. Its colorful gompas have attracted the Buddhist devotees from all over the globe.

Besides, it is also a favorite hiking locale and is known for some of the best hikes in the country. Tanglang La Pass regarded as the second-highest mountain pass in Ladakh is located in between the snow-clad mountains of the Great Himalayas. Perched at a height of about 5,325 m, it lies in Leh District of Jammu and Kashmir. Tanglang La Pass cuts through the Zanskar Range. Icicles hanging from the cliff face in the shade create a mesmerizing sight while crossing the pass.

Best Season to Visit Leh Ladakh

If you are planning to go to Leh Ladakh, then it is very important to know the right time to visit Ladakh. Whether you are a biker, trekker, tourist, or if you are going just for a holiday in Ladakh with your family, you need to know about it before going.

However,  we recommend you visit Ladakh all 12 months of the year and each different month will offer a unique experience. In which you can plan Ladakh anytime in 12 months. Here is our recommendation to visit Ladakh and the details of visiting Ladakh during 12 months are as follows:-

May to September (Summer) -  Ladakh, known for supernatural landscapes, one gets to see the most in summer as most of the hotels are open then. Hotels are open in Pangong, Nubra, and Tso Moriri also. These months are the most popular as there are a lot of domestic tourists coming into Ladakh, who come to visit here from different parts of the country. Ladakh is very famous all over the world also with foreigners thronging the place for adventures. The temperature remains between 5? Celsius to 25? Celsius. From June to September, Ladakh can be accessed via road by bike or car from both Manali and Srinagar. The months from mid-April to June are the peak season for Ladakh tourism. Zojila Pass coming in from Srinagar usually opens by mid-April nowadays. The Rohtang Pass opens from May to the end of September. The temperature ranges from 5? Celsius to 15? Celsius. These months are the best time to drive to Ladakh. The weather is clear these days.

Autumn, Winters & Spring - All hotels close in Pangong and Nubra valley but there are few centrally heated hotels open in Leh now. You get to see different colors of the weather here these months as well as you can enjoy secluded journeys with nature. So based in Leh, one can explore the region and there is indeed lots to offer. On the brighter side, when people come in the summer months, everyone skips the attractions of Leh town and around heading out to Nubra, Pangong & Tsomoriri. So this is the perfect time to explore this side of Ladakh and indeed there are many activities to do.

October, November & March -  It becomes very calm post the hectic tourist season. With the arrival of October, cold starts to set in Ladakh. Also, in some high altitude places, the temperature drops below zero. The day temperatures hover around 10? Celsius and nights are sub zero?s

December to February -  Most passes close due to snowfall hence making Leh town inaccessible. The only way to arrive in Leh is to fly. India and other carriers fly to Leh throughout the year. Pangong Tso lake freezes with ice sheets. These months you can also do a snow leopard sighting expedition. Temperatures hover between -15? C and 10? C during day and night. It?s a great time to come to Leh when everything is covered in white snow. Ice climbing and ice skating are possible to experience in these months.
