Winter - Winter set in from November onwards until early March, which gives Kashmir a different mood. Summer - Summer lasts from May to the end of August. It is quite warm in the town of Srinagar, but the higher altitude places like Gulmarg and Sonamarg are still chilly. At higher altitudes, the night temperature will drop slightly to 10 degrees also. The daytime temperature in Srinagar at this time is between 30?C and 35?C. At this time, the entire valley is a mosaic of various shades of green-rice fields, grasslands, trees, etc., while Srinagar and its lakes and waterways are paradise after the hot Indian plains.
Autumn - Autumn may be the cutest season in Kashmir. When September comes, the green turns gold and then auburn and red. The maximum daytime temperature in September is about 20?C, the night temperature drops to 10?C, and it drops further from November onwards. The fallen leaves of trees make Srinagar a poetic destination.

How to Reach

By Air - The only airport in the Kashmir Valley is Srinagar Airport, now known as Sheikh Ul Alam International Airport, which has flights from major cities in India, such as Mumbai, Bangalore Pune and Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata etc via Delhi. Some of the flights operated by the airport are IndiGo, Air India Goair, Spicejet and Air Vistara. Srinagar airport is about 14 kilometers away from the city center.
By Train - Currently, Srinagar does not have a train station. Srinagar railway station or Nowgam railway station is a railway station of the city of Srinagar in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The station is part of the Jammu?Baramulla line, which once completed, will connect the city to the Rail network of India.
The nearest railway station to Srinagar is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, which is almost 300 kilometers away from Srinagar. There are several trains to Jammu Tawi Railway Station every day from all over India. However there is a local train from banihal to Baramulla but it does not connect Srinagar
By Road -The state of Kashmir is well connected by a network of state and private buses with several nearby cities and towns
From Jammu: Jammu to Srinagar distance is 300 KM and it will take 7 to 8 hours by private taxi.
From Leh: The total length of the road from Leh to Srinagar is 422km. The Srinagar Highway is also known as NH1D. It is actually a section of 534 kilometers from Uri to Leh, called National Highway No. 1.
