Kisaq Is Greenland's Iconic Expedition Vessel
Kisaq was originally built as a passenger ferry that was built to operate year round in the Greenland waters. One of Greenland’s most iconic expedition vessels, Ksiaq has undergone a major refurbishment to a comfortable liveaboard vessel that takes photographers and tourists to feel this majestic country!
Kisaq is skippered by local captain Taatsi who has decades of experiences navigating in Greenland waters, and plenty of stories to tell about his homeland.
The vessel is extremely well maintained, with Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) certificated standards of safety and seaworthiness.
We love Kisaq as she is a very robust and capable vessel. From a guest experience, she is warm and comfortable. and whilst not luxurious. Kaisq offers an authentic experience in comparison to large cruise ships. It has 6 twin cabins with comfortable bunk beds, shared facilities, a warm saloon and large decks. She is also equipped with three Zodiacs for shore landings.

Small Expedition Ship Perfect For Photography Groups
Most expedition cruise ships are loaded with 100 passengers or more. For us, we believe smaller is better, especially for photography. When visiting small Greenlandic communities, you will have better experience in a small group than a large group. Our ship can go to remote and least-visited places that many large cruise ships can’t.

Zodiac landing craft for shore landings
Shore landings are the essence of every expedition in the remote places of Greenland, and your guides will take you exploring ashore. The vessel is equipped with a zodiac which is specially designed for hostile Arctic environments. It also offers the perfect opportunity for us to get closer to icebergs, glaciers, and wildlife.
Focus On Local Employment and Environmental Protection
We focus on sustainable tourism by working closely with the local community to boost the local economy, by employing Greenlandic captains and using Greenlandic boats. We also try to minimize the impact of our trips to the environment and the local cultures.
Why a mandatory flight package?
Northeast Greenland is considered one of the remotest places in the world. To get here with a ship from Iceland takes at least three or four sea days on the Denmark strait, a passage that can be quite rough for a small ship like M/V Kisaq. To be able to offer you a comfortable experience with a focus on Greenland’s spectacular nature, we have therefore chosen to fly our customers from Reykjavik (Iceland) to Greenland
Do I need cash and various currencies?
We kindly ask you to pay your consumption of alcoholic beverages onboard on the last day in cash in USD or EUR. We do not accept credit cards.
In Greenland, credit cards are generally accepted in shops, supermarkets, gift shops, hotels, restaurants, and taxis. If you pay cash in shops, only Danish Kroner (DKK) is accepted.

Boat Expedition Perfect for Photography Groups
The average expedition cruise boat currently carries 100 passengers or more, but we believe that smaller is better, especially for photography. When visiting small Greenlandic communities, you will get a far better experience in a small group than in a large one. Our boat can access places that many large cruise ships cannot reach, and it is also easier to spot extraordinary scenery.
